Demand response participation with EnerNOC is easy. Qualified commercial, institutional, and industrial businesses and organizations agree to reduce demand, and EnerNOC pays them quarterly, regardless of whether or not the need arises. There is no cost to participate. As a demand response provider, EnerNOC receives revenue for offering demand response services to utilities and grid operators, which EnerNOC shares with our customers for serving as demand response resources.

During a demand response event, EnerNOC customers can follow a pre-determined plan to reduce demand on the grid by curtailing consumption (dimming lights, adjusting HVAC set points, shutting down non-critical equipment, etc.), initiating backup generation, or both. EnerNOC’s deep energy expertise allows us to tailor demand response solutions specifically for commercial, institutional, and industrial customers. We understand the daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal patterns of electricity consumption in businesses and organizations and know how to maximize demand response benefits for every facility.

Additionally, our Network Operations Center (NOC) executes demand response events from start to finish. Customers can opt to fully automate their demand response participation, freeing them of any required action and risk during a demand response event. The NOC can perform any combination of curtailment or backup generation, automatically or manually.

EnerNOC works with hundreds of commercial, institutional, and industrial customers at thousands of sites across numerous industries, including: Commercial Property, Data Centers, Education, Financial Institutions, Food Processing, Government, Healthcare, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Metal Recycling, Printing and Graphics, Pulp and Paper Mills, Refrigerated Warehouses, Supermarkets, and Water and Wastewater Treatment. EnerNOC’s versatile demand response solution applies to virtually any commercial, institutional, or industrial business or organization.

Each EnerNOC customer also receives PowerTrak®, our web-based energy management software, free of charge. PowerTrak users have complete transparency into their energy consumption with real-time energy data and can ultimately optimize their usage and achieve sustainable demand reductions. Demand response conveniently acts as a gateway to total energy management, and EnerNOC offers a suite of energy management services, including energy analyses, energy procurement, and emissions tracking and trading.
