Position Description:
EnerNOC has an immediate need for a Program Manager to provide oversight and relationship management for high-visibility utility contracts throughout California. The Program Manager will oversee all phases of the implementation and delivery of EnerNOC’s energy efficiency programs with California’s Investor Owned Utilities. This work requires the management and oversight of multiple stakeholders, including Utility Representatives, End-Use Customers, Project Managers, Energy Auditors, Site Technicians, Partners and Contractors. Project managers are also expected to become fully conversant in the California electricity market and all associated regulations.
Candidates will have a track record of successfully overseeing multiple parallel projects managed by multiple staff while communicating project status and expectations both in and out of the organization. Attention to detail and follow-up is essential to the success of this role, and candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in project management roles. The ideal candidate will have a track record of working with utility stakeholders to deliver on key utility program milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for overall Program Management of EnerNOC’s utility programs
- Provide primary point of contact for the Utility Clients and work with them to ensure client satisfaction.
- Fully understand contractual and regulatory issues relating to the utilities, our customers, and other parties
- Manage the deployment phase of the program, including, but not limited to:
- Facilitate meetings with customers and stakeholders
- Site assessments and gathering of site specific documentation
- Define operational requirements
- Develop project planning documents
- Assess utility, sub-metering (all fuels), and Building Management System (BMS) requirements and manage the installation of same
- Ensure timely transition between project stakeholders
- Ensure timely delivery of reports and other deliverables
- Continually report a summary of project status within EnerNOC and to Utility and End-Use Customers
- Manage multiple project financials to ensure individual projects stay within budget as well as overall program stays within budget
- Assist in developing a scalable business process model for MBCx programs
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
- BA/BS in a technical or managerial field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience specifically relating to energy management or energy systems as well as electrical & mechanical systems through consulting, project or construction management, or other relevant experience
- Experience managing technical staff and the proven ability to drive projects to a timely and high quality completion
- Experience in facilities management/operations
- Experience in concurrent management of various sub-contractors including but not limited to electrical, mechanical & controls
- A proven track record demonstrating the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment with the ability to quickly learn new technology
- Outstanding communication skills with the proven ability to utilize these skills across groups within and outside the organization
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Broad understanding of business considerations associated with our installations
- Ability to apply creativity and objectivity while solving technical problems
- Ability to travel throughout California
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with Utility Industry and specifically Utility Energy Efficiency Program Implementation
- Certified Energy Manager certification or the ability to obtain same within one year
- Experience with Building Commissioning/Retro-commissioning
