Position Description:

EnerNOC has an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager to support our operations serving the Tennessee Valley Authority and their distributors.  The Senior Project Manager will oversee the work of EnerNOC staff in the region to ensure that our deployments are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner while optimizing safety and customer service.  The Senior Project Manager will also provide direct oversight and relationship management for high-visibility energy management hardware and software deployment projects throughout the region.  Each assignment requires the coordination among multiple parties including the customer, electrical contractors, electricity marketplace administrators, permitting and regulatory officials, and EnerNOC staff.

Candidates will have a track record of successfully overseeing parallel short-term projects served by multiple staff while communicating project status and expectations both in and out of the organization.  Candidates must also have a complete understanding of the market in terms of regulations, sales, marketing, and associated components.  Attention to detail and follow-up is essential to the success of this role, and candidates must possess proven experience in related roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the customer experience at EnerNOC, including assistance with energy management services, installation of EnerNOC Site Server hardware/software at customer facilities, and continual customer communication
  • Continually report a summary of project status within and outside the organization
  • Manage the work of other project managers and the field operations team to optimize metering and control configurations to best serve our customers
  • Troubleshoot various components related to energy management including but not limited to networking devices, control & monitoring systems, automatic transfer switches, and backup generators
  • Fully understand and communicate contractual and regulatory issues relating to the regional grid operator, our customers, and other parties
  • Represent a team who strives for Operational Excellence and first-class Customer Service
  • Effective communication skills are critical and required

 

Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:

  • BA/BS in a technical or managerial field, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of five years experience specifically relating to energy management or energy systems through consulting, project or construction management, or other relevant experience
  • Experience managing technical staff and the proven ability to drive projects to a timely and high quality completion
  • A proven track record demonstrating the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment with the ability to quickly learn new technology
  • Outstanding communication skills with the proven ability to utilize these skills across groups within and outside the organization
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Broad understanding of business considerations associated with our installations
  • Ability to apply creativity and objectivity while solving technical problems
  • Ability to travel locally as needed

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • MBA or MA/MS in a technical or managerial field
  • Electrical or other engineering, design, or project contracting experience
  • Certified Energy Manager certification or the ability to obtain same within one year
